If you're going for more attacks in less time I would probably go D/A.

AoG
Eternal Aura
Heart of Fury
Golden Fox Strike
Wild Strike
Death Blossom
Critical Agility
Optional(Res Sig, etc.)

But I can see if you wanted a specific sword/Shield that would work!

In accordance with either of those builds, I'd recommend Avatar of Melandru because of the sick +dmg and +energy you get (more useful in the D/A) build.

In your D/W build, it seems solid enough but I honestly think a self heal of some sort like Faithful or Mystic Regen would be more worthwhile for you than Whirlwind Attack or Final Thrust

In the D/A build, I'd recommend throwing a deep wound in there if you're gonna use it. I can't think of the chain off of the top of my head but it's used commonly by new-age W/A and D/A's in HA...it's a lead attack, a deep-wound off-hand hand attack, and death blossom...I'm positive you'll find it at www.pvxwiki.com

Surely you mean Avatar of Lyssa, and not Avatar of Melandru.

Avatar of Lyssa and Avatar of Grenth are two good choices.

AoG - Consistant +18 damage
AoL - Spike +44 damage

I have two hang-ups with Avatar of Lyssa though. Monsters activate skills in HM 33-50% faster which leaves less of a window for Avatar of Lyssa to hit that bonus damage. You also probably won't be doing any of that damage against melee creatures. Also, if Avatar of Lyssa gets interrupted when you're about to run out, you're most than going to have negative energy.

AoG life stealing can also bypass skills that reduce your damage to zero.

If this is for PvE, a Dervish really shouldn't be using any other weapons than a Scythe because thats what works best for them. If you really want to use other attack skills from another profession, use [[Protector's Strike] or [[Wild Blow]. They are melee attacks so they can be used with any melee weapon.

For a [[Avatar of Grenth] build, try:

[build prof=dervi/any ScytheMastery=12+1+1 Mysticism=12+1][Chilling Victory][Mystic Sweep][Eremite's Attack][Heart of Fury][Eternal Aura][Aura of Holy Might][Avatar of Grenth][Asuran Scan][/build]

I think he's going for a combination of tanking and damage (sword and board means more armor).

Go AoL if you want more damage, AoG if you want a combo of less damage and some self-healing.

I think it's not bad. In fact I run something similar - swords aren't going to get rune benefits like a scythe, but the faster attack makes better use of the bonus damage from grenths for single targets - the majority of what you fight. Also using adrenaline skills for bonus damage means you're saving energy for your form, and ias enchantment.
86 armor isn't bad at all.

Still, if there's one skill you ought to have it's sun and moonslash, which won't take away from your adr pool like other adr atacks, can't be blocked, and will hit twice capitalizing on grenth's bonus damage. using that with FGJ is devastating.

The advantage of a scythe - other than the fact that it hits multiple enemies - is that it can be used with conjure frost for really high bonus damage. Of course conjure's can kinda suck given the long as hell recharge.

d/a will win in single target damage sure - for as long as your energy holds out.
